All-New Ram 1500 Engine Lineup
In the 2025 model year, the Pentastar 3.6L V6 that Ram has trusted since 2011 continues its legacy of power and efficiency with 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque. However, that's where the similarities come to an end between the new Ram 1500 generation and the previous one. The less fuel-efficient 5.7L V8 engine is replaced by a more efficient 3.0L twin-turbocharged straight-six engine. In addition to better fuel efficiency, the twin-turbo engine also offers more power, with 420 horsepower and 469 lb-ft of torque. That's an increase of 25 horsepower and 59 lb-ft of torque compared to the former V8 engine! If you're seeking even more power, Ram takes it even further by tuning the twin-turbo engine to create a high-output variant with 540 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the 2025 model year brings out the all-new Ram 1500 Ramcharger, the brand's first-ever venture into the world of plug-in hybrids. Power is sent from the aforementioned Pentastar engine, through an onboard generator, to a pair of electric drive modules – one on each axle. However, power can also be sent from the engine, through the generator to the battery pack, or both, giving you the freedom to choose. This setup gives you a mind-boggling 663 horsepower and 615 lb-ft of torque for a maximum towing capacity of 14,000 pounds. Under normal driving conditions, the Ramcharger can achieve a driving range of up to 690 miles!
What Else Does 2025 Bring to the Ram 1500 Lineup?
When a vehicle is upgraded for a new generation, it is expected to bring on a noticeably different design and an array of new content. That is exactly what you get from the 2025 Ram 1500! While keeping the truck's overall design much the same as the previous generation, Ram gave it a facelift with a wider, more aggressive grille, redesigned headlights, and a forward-leaning posture. Furthermore, LED headlights, which were only optional for higher Ram 1500 trim levels in previous generations, now come standard across the entire lineup. Stepping inside, the lineup has been upgraded with new materials and color palettes. For example, the Big Horn comes with a variety of new interior color schemes. Additionally, the Laramie features new accents with a Chevron pattern, new red/black ombre mesh inserts on the seats inside the Rebel, and a new dashboard veneer for the Limited trim made of real Black Ebony open-pore wood. The interior is also upgraded with a 12-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen which is upgraded to an all-new 14.5-inch one on the all-new Tungsten trim level. Also standard on the Tungsten is the otherwise available front passenger touchscreen. Spanning 10.25 inches, this innovative screen offers the front passenger access to vehicle cameras, navigation, entertainment features, and other co-piloting functions.
Can I Trust the 2025 Ram 1500 to Keep Me Safe?
While the short answer to this question is yes, we'd like to inform you just how safe the 2025 Ram 1500 is with over 100 standard and available safety features. Standard at all trim levels, you are protected by a backup camera with dynamic grid lines, electronic stability control with roll mitigation, a high-strength steel frame to divert impact energy away from the cabin, six airbags, and seatbelt pretensioners. However, Ram believes that the best collision is one that is completely avoided. That's why they developed a whole suite of collision-prevention driving assists. This suite includes common driving assists such as blindspot monitoring with tow mode, rear cross-path warning, active lane management, traffic sign recognition, evasive steering assist, forward collision warning, front and rear parking sensors, automatic emergency braking, parallel/perpendicular park assist, drowsy driver detection, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and more. Ram takes it even further with an available digital rearview mirror, giving you an unobstructed view of the road behind you. This comes with tow mode, which splits the screen by left, center, and right to monitor what's going on around your trailer. Also available is Hands-Free Active Drive assist, putting the truck in control using numerous cameras and sensors to actively keep itself in its lane at the correct speed without driver input using the adaptive cruise control and active lane management systems.
